From our current mooring ball on the east side of the marina channel we have an unobstructed view of the shallow area west of the channel. Although marked with warning bouys denoting the shallow grassbeds some sailors, after wandering around the harbor - unable to find a spot to drop an anchor, see this wide open area as salvation.
First off, the fines for anchoring in protected grass beds are staggering; and secondly, very few sailboats can maneuver well in two feet of water, although, as the picture below shows, some are willing to ignore the bouys and climb to high ground.
